Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold

How many of you remember the 1977 animated version of The Hobbit? With the new live action film opening in just days I figured I'd post the two versions of the infamous tune about the Misty Mountains.

Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?

A: Hmmm.... I read a lot of epic fantasy so there aer LOTS of unique and unusual character names. Like Murtagh or Galbatorix or Islanzadi from the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. Legolas, Eowyn, Faramir and 99.9% of the names from Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. Hermione (I know this one may only be unique to me), Albus Dumbledore (I love what this one means), Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter by JK Rowling. Katsa and Po from Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Sabriel and Lirael from the books of the same name by Garth Nix. There are probably tons more that I could find but I think I've taken up enough room. :-P

Movie Trailer - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

So what do you guys think? I kind of wish the release wasn't so far away, but I'm looking forward to seeing it! It's been such a long time since LOTR was "new". I can't wait to see Middle Earth again.

Definitely different than this trailer though (fan made for a school project I believe, and the video's wicked blurry (sorry)).

  Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?
A. Geez... I don't know if I could pick just 3. I would probably have to go for JK Rowling, CS Lewis, and JRR Tolkien. And for someone who's name isn't on their books as just initials, I'd have to add in Jane Austen as well. And MAAAAAAAAAAYBE Christopher Paolini. I know that's more than 3, but I don't do well having so few favorites.

Literary Tattoos

So it is quite possible that within the next week or so I will be getting a literary tattoo of my own design. WOoHOo. Something I've been waiting for FOREVER. Ok, maybe not a literary tattoo so much as just a tattoo in general.

I'm always amazed at the tattoos that people get. Especially in reference to their favorite books. I mean, there's just some INCREDIBLE work out there. Now, granted, there are also some really REALLY bad tattoos.
