This weeks question:
Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?
A. This may sound lame, but I'm actually writing a semi-autobiographical book (or I was until MY computer crapped out on me and I can't see the screen to do anything with it) about a 20 something girl who fell for the man of her dreams, only to find out once they got married that he was abusive physically, verbally, and emotionally. It's about her internal struggles as well as her external battle. Whether to stay because she had nowhere to go and no one to help her and put up with the abuse, or to leave with nothing and hope he didn't follow her. I started writing it in the hopes that if it ever got published and someone read it who may be in the same situation, or something similar, that it would help them somehow.

Hmmm... that doesn't sound lame at all. Actually sounds like we have something in common. I didn't marry the guy, but I was head over heels in love with him and put up with abuse for a few years before I disappeared off the face of the earth so he couldn't find me (that was after leaving him a few times and him always finding me). I've started writing many stories about my experiences myself. I hope it works out for you!

ReplyDeleteThat's not lame at all, I'm sure it would be a great help to a lot of people in that situation (my mum was the victim of an abusive marriage, and finally had the guts to walk away, making life for herself, me and my brother much more pleasant!) Good luck with it!
